Channel Orange
VIS 164: Photographic Strategies (WI24) Final Project. Photographed digitally on Sony a7iii
Channel Orange by Frank Ocean is one of my favorite albums and one of the albums that I was listening to in preparation to plan my final project. The first photo acts as if you are listening to an album, taking in the music and lyrics. The five photo following the first photo emulate a song from the album through a lyric or the feelings that one may feel as they listen.

Game Time
VIS 164: Photographic Strategies (WI24) Project 1: Time. Photographed digitally on Sony a7iii
Game Time is a project centered around the concept of time in relation to basketball. The first photo is overlayed with Damian Lillard’s signature celebration known as “Dame Time” as Bryce Pope (UCSD) knocks down a dagger to seal the win over CAL in a pre-season thriller matchup. The second and third images are a play on subjects inspired by Paul Pfeiffer’s ‘Prologue to the Story of the Birth of Freedom’. I integrated the uses of Photoshop to mask out the player shooting a three-pointer in the second image and the basket in the third image.

Everydays
VIS 165: Black and White Darkroom (FA23) Final Project. Shot on Ilford HP5 plus 400 Black and White 35 mm film. Printed on
Everydays is a project capturing the daily objects we use, see, and pass by. My main goal behind each photo was to make it look as if each object was floating as if it was not connected to the ground. I was inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s Readymade collection with the use of simple objects and turning them into a form of art, appreciating the little details around us.
Ball Is Life
VIS 174: Media Sketchbook (SP24), Project 4: Collage and Appropriation
Ball Is Life is a video that emulates the celebrations and feelings from watching basketball at the professional and collegiate level along with pop culture. Each vignette creates a new story through the emotions, words, and actions that players and coaches accentuate in games and with the press. Basketball has played a huge role in my life ever since I was a kid, so I thought to have fun with this assignment and be myself. I ultimately wanted to poke fun at the things that the actions basketball players have that I always see on social media and turn it into a video answering the prompt. The music choice has been a recent trending song that has been funny, which fit in perfectly with the story I wanted to tell. I cut players and coaches from videos found on Instagram and YouTube, placing the cutouts on new backgrounds to create new videos in After Effects. I assembled the rest of the video in Premiere Pro utilizing the properties of cuts and fades.
Morning Matcha
VIS 174: Media Sketchbook (SP24), Project 3: Vibe Production
Morning Matcha is a video aimed at the creating the morning vibe through my perspective. When I think of the word “vibe”, I think of being in a calming state where it’s just yourself feeling relaxed and going into a place with no distractions. A matcha latte is how I love to start my mornings off and be in a calming mental state.
